Voted the "Best Downtown Event" many years running, the Taste of Kokomo wrapped up another successful event on Aug. 15 to benefit the United Way of Howard County.
The silver platter award went to Culver’s – meaning that they recorded the highest number of tickets sold. The restaurant with the second highest sales total was Half Moon Restaurant & Brewery, with Sheila’s Custom Catering taking home third place. Miss Mary’s Southern Cooking was fourth, with The Quarry rounding out the top five and receiving the Rookie of the Year Award. The Most Festive Award went to The Hideout.
Thanks again go to the 30 restaurants, Coca-Cola and Young’s Culligan for making the Taste of Kokomo a spectacular event.
Eight bands also donated their time and talents last Saturday to help make the Taste a success.
Special thanks also go to Harold Vincent and the
Sherrif’s road crew for working to set up and tear down the event, The City of
Kokomo for allowing us to host this event downtown, Kokomo Academy for bringing
a crew to set up, Stelko Electric for running all of the electricity for the
event, Howard White for loaning us a refrigerator truck, the Rescue Mission for
letting us borrow their fork lift, and to the many, many volunteers that make
the Taste happen each year.
