Court Appointed Special Advocates provides volunteer advocacy services to children who are involved with the court system of abuse, neglect, delinquency and/or custody disputes. A CASA volunteer’s responsibilities include conducting independent investigation, evaluations and recommendations to the court, in child’s best interest.

Food Finders Food Bank meets the needs of the hungry in Mid-North Indiana by location, transporting and processing surplus food from a multi-state area and re-channeling the food donations to the hungry in 23 counties through a network of more than 190 charitable organizations feeding the needy. In 2007, Food Finders distributed 226,205 pounds of food in Howard County. That's equal to 174,000 meals--more than double the amount they were serving in 1997.

The Literacy Coalition meets an unfulfilled need in our community, that of teaching adult nonreaders to read through a personal one-to-one tutoring relationship. The program creates an opportunity for self-improvement for individuals who cannot fit into existing programs because of family responsibilities, job commitments or personal limitations.
