The Howard-Tipton Chapter of the American Red Cross is volunteers reaching out to help prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The Chapter is governed by a local board and its services are funded by voluntary donations.

Carver Community Center promotes the common good of fellow men and community through fellowship, recreation and a commitment to service. Provides emotional and physical health, character development and community stability by providing an environment that is conductive to wholesome family living and community life.

Food Finders Food Bank meets the needs of the hungry in Mid-North Indiana by location, transporting and processing surplus food from a multi-state area and re-channeling the food donations to the hungry in 23 counties through a network of more than 190 charitable organizations feeding the needy. In 2007, Food Finders distributed 226,205 pounds of food in Howard County. That's equal to 174,000 meals--more than double the amount they were serving in 1997.

The Howard County Children's Center helps parents provide a better living for their families through affordable day care for children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Children develop by being guided through the learning via hands-on skills, interactive learning and communication skills.

Mental Health America advocates mental health education for adults and children, the prevention of mental illness and the improved care and treatment for receiving mental health services. They also provide support groups for divorced persons, widows, families of the mentally ill, consumers, panic anxiety and depression.

United Way Information and Referral/2-1-1 provides a link between people in need of services to available resources. This is accomplished through simple information referrals, complex referral (intake/screening) and advocacy.

Visiting Nurse Service/Howard Regional Home Care & Hospice Service provides skilled nursing and psychiatric nursing, personal response service, physical, occupational and speech therapies, medical social services, dietician, Chaplain, homemaker, home health aides, Medicare services, Medicaid services, Area Four and Area Five choice program and private duty services.

Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) provides a variety of programs for youth, adults and families. Programs include health and fitness, childcare, preschool classes and after-school activities, summer camp programs and a Special Education program giving children the opportunity to mainstream with other youth in their age group.
