What Matters.

Mission & Purpose

United Way of Howard County's local Information & Referral (I&R)/2-1-1 program links those in need with 415 local, state and national resources -- helping to find solutions to the most challenging of our community's problems.

Information & Referral/2-1-1 helps people with a wide range of issues from utility and rental assistance to child care, support groups, prescription and transportation assistance.

United Way's Information & Referral/2-1-1 provides support to non-profits, churches, clubs and partners with local businesses, churches, students and professionals to increase the capacity of people to care for one another here in Howard County. Some of our partnerships include:

  • Ministerial Utility and Fuel Fund
  • Letter Carrier Food Drive
  • Shiloh Pharmacy Fund
  • Gap Tracking

Referral Process
Each month, I & R/2-1-1 staff and volunteers share vital information by telephone to more than 500 Howard, Cass and Miami counties families, assisting them in accessing support groups, government programs and private resources.

In addition, we assist approximately 135 walk-in clients per month who visit our offices seeking referrals to financial assistance for basic necessities. Every inquiry is confidential and handled in a courteous, professional and individualized manner.

If you or someone you know needs help, call 2-1-1 or United Way's Information Referral office at (765) 457-HELP or (765) 457-4357.
