UNITED WAY OF HOWARD COUNTY 2007 CAMPAIGN

Steve DailyAs community chair of the 2007 United Way of Howard County Campaign, I am excited about the coming months as we work together to make a difference in our community. Your participation in the United Way Campaign is essential to meeting the needs of countless individuals who are served by our agencies each day. Your gifts and commitment to making a difference are an important part of what makes our community so special. As you contribute, you not only share your resources but you also make an investment in our future.

As you join in this united effort, you might say, in fact, that you are among the “super heroes” in our community. You are among the individuals and companies that stand strong in the face of challenges. And like the super heroes of our youth, you hold special powers to create a positive future.

As we progress in this campaign, you’ll meet every day individuals who, like you, possess the super powers to create change. You’ll soon see billboards and publications that depict “super” people in our community. As you drive along our city streets, you’ll see Jim Whited of Jamie’s Soda Fountain and Celestine Johnson of Ivy Tech Community College. You’ll also see Ty Gingerich, Rex and Kara Gingerich’s son.

You may ask, what do they have in common and why are they involved in this United Way Campaign? The answer is simple. Like the super heroes of the comic books and Hollywood, they all possess incredible strength. They each show us that you don’t have to be a super hero to make a difference. They also remind us that we each are important as we work together to achieve our $2 million goal.

Will achieving our goal be an extraordinary accomplishment? Will it require super hero strength? The answer to each question is “yes.” As we join together, we create the strength of a super hero. The strength to answer needs. The strength to create change. And, yes, the strength to make a difference in the lives of people in our community.

As you consider your gift to United Way of Howard County, think about your role as a super hero. With your strength of steel, you can join the super heroes of our community. Join me today in making a commitment to this campaign!

There is one more thing you should consider before you make your commitment—tights are optional.
