In the end, it was in dramatic fashion that the United Way
of Howard County achieved their $2 million goal. Daily announced that the
campaign had fallen $4,000 short of meeting goal, and it didn’t take long for
the community to step up once again. The Hall of Justice super heroes—Paul
Wyman, Matt Boor, Curt Trainer and Brant Parry—all pledged an additional $500
leaving the campaign just $2,000 shy of its 2007 goal. Sister Catherine Kelly
then stood up and pledged an additional $1,500 from St. Joseph Hospital, and
Daily put in the remaining $500 (since he took a vacation during the campaign)
to bring the pledges in line with the $2 million goal for this year.
