Haynes International, Inc., named Company of the Year for Howard County

Haynes International, Inc., was named “Company of the Year” for Howard County during the 2008 United Way State Association awards banquet, after being nominated by the United Way of Howard County. The awards banquet was held April 3 at the Hilton Indianapolis North, Indianapolis.

Below is the nomination that distinguished Haynes International, Inc., from the rest of the competition.

Don’t you wish you had a company whose president was an Alexis de Toucqueville giver? A corporation who gives more money when they hear you’re coming up short on your campaign goal? Haynes International is that company.

“As a corporation, Haynes International donated $60,000 in 2007 to the United Way of Howard County -- including an extra $10,000 when it looked like the campaign would fall short of its goal -- which is a 25 percent increase from 2006. They not only allow us to give United Way presentations during all shifts to their employees, but they also provide lunch for them. Then, when the campaign is over, they provide a thank you BBQ. Not only are the corporate numbers impressive, but Haynes International employees give at a un-precedented rate in Howard County. Seventy-two percent of their employees (551 out of 765) gave an average of $251 each in 2007, an increase of 20 percent over 2006. This year, their total employee giving totaled $138,426.

“They are also a tremendous source of volunteers for our events, boards, councils and campaign.  Currently, Haynes International employees participate in fundraising campaigns or sit on the Board of Directors for more than 60 percent of Howard County United Way agencies. Three of those employees sit directly on the United Way board of directors, while one sits on the executive board. Haynes International also donates two loaned associates each year during our annual community campaign. That is something you can’t put a price tag on.”

Attending the annual state association awards banquet from Haynes International, Inc., were Vice President of Corporate Affairs Jean Neel and Vice President of Manufacturing Planning Scott Pinkham. Lori Tate, President of United Way of Howard County, was also present.
